Y1 (2019/2020)

PSPE This week we continued with the theme of Feelings and Emotions. After reading the book 'My Heart', the children brainstormed the feelings and emotions they've experienced.  They then drew a heart to illustrate how they were feeling today. Literacy This week in literacy the children have looked at; rhyming words, three letter words, adjectives and synonyms. A busy week indeed! The children match rhyming words and then write the phrase in their books. Luffy revisits the story to look for three letter words. The girls search for three letter words. Maths This week the children were introduced to the concept of multiplication.  In the picture below Petch and Torch are working on sets.  An example of the task set was, '4 sets of 3 trees, how many trees altogether?'  The children drew the sets to work out the answers. Feelings and Emotions The PSPE theme this week was 'Feelings and Emotions'. The children were able to list a number of different feelings and differentiate between good and bad feelings. Trevi demonstrates an angry face. Euro demonstrates a scary face. Akin shows a happy face. UOI In UOI this week the children have been finishing off their investigation into homes and as such have been compiling a book containing all the things they have learned about homes. Euro busy sorting items into the correct rooms. Moses shows off his 'Home' Book. Luffy and Jewoo sort out pictures of items and place them in the correct rooms in the house. Literacy They Year 1 students have made a start on their Christmas preparations.  They set about making their own Christmas cards and then proceeded to write a Christmas message inside.  These were then safely posted in the mailbox.  The children also read the story of the First Christmas...

Literacy This week the Year 1 students have been engaged in a wide variety of Literacy activities.  These ranged from writing postcards to 'Fancy Nancy', to learning how to use email.  The children were also introduced to synonyms and made some impressive 'synonym wands’. Thun Thun and Ida enjoy sharing a book at library time. Ida writing a postcard to a friend. Luffy and Natacha posting their letters.
