And It's Back To Work!

Image
It was so lovely to see the children come back to school with smiles on their faces. Although it was a short week we still managed to get through lots of work and have fun at the same time! Maths Tanat writes a sum for the picture on the board. Nobu makes up his own sums. In maths this week the children were introduced to simple addition.  The topic was introduced by using the children themselves to illustrate the sum, for example, 3 boys stood at the front of the classroom and then were joined by 2 girls.  The children were able to see that 3 boys plus 2 girls made 5 children.  After several examples using concrete materials the children were given pictures for which they had to write the sum. Using counters to help her Korwan does some basic addition sums. Phonics In Phonics the children have been focussing on the sound 'p'.  One of the stories we read in class to reinforce this sound was 'The Princess And The Pea'.  A...

The children performed the story of the 'Pied Piper of Hamelin'.  I must say I was super impressed and proud of each and every one of them. Phonics In phonics this week the children have been learning the sound 'i'.  Apart from writing the sound 'i' and colouring in pictures of objects beginning with the sound 'i', the children made Indian headdresses and igloos. Since the beginning of the year, the children have learned several sounds and are now beginning to put them together to form words. They are very proud of themselves and rightly so. Maths In Maths this week the children were focussing on ordering numbers 1 to 20. To reinforce this the children had to choose a  number and find the number immediately before and after the chosen number. In the picture above each child ha...
