Surprise!

UOI What a lovely surprise to come back from our mid-term break and see how much our bean plants had grown, a natural introduction to our new UOI; 'All living things go through a process of change'. Alex observes how much his plant, from home has grown. The children are very excited to see the change and growth in their beans. Hugo is absolutely thrilled at how much his bean plant has grown. UOI What a wonderful term to work on the  UOI unit, Celebrations.  We have enjoyed so many celebrations this term including Chinese New Year, children's birthdays and of course this week ...

Research shows that children learn through play, as well as having fun.  It was with great enthusiasm therefore, that UDIS took part in the Global Play Day on Wednesday. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Tanat concentrating on building his car. Alex choosing his materials carefully. Linux busy creating. Literacy The sound for this week has been 'k'.  To reinforce this sound the children engaged in a variety of activities such as, using clay to make things beginning with 'k', making 'kings' crowns' and making kites. Linux proudly shows off his 'King's crown'. As we are studying Celebrations for our UOI we have linked that to our literacy and have written about our favourite celebration. UOI This week we learned about the Japanese festival Setsubun which occurs on February 3rd and all about 'Oni', the ...
