Home Learning What an extraordinary week this has been in more ways than one.  Everyone concerned really has been thrown in at the deep end, however we have all managed to swim.  I am amazed at how well our young students have coped with the online learning.  Well done everyone!  A big thank you to all of those parents who have shared their children's work. Luffy's Dad actually made a folder on Google Drive and is uploading photos and work Luffy's work to it.  This is great idea as it's a record of Luffy's progress stored in one place. Spy busy revising his 2D shapes. Spy online with Miss Rachel Petch has also been busy working on fractions and drawing vehicles for our transport theme, as well as working on his Fractions and English.  Great job Petch. To introduce our new unit on Transport, the children listened to the story of Paddington Bear.  Paddington travelled all the way from Peru to London....

Happy Birthday Natasha! Once again we had a reason to celebrate last week as it was Natasha's birthday on Friday.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the cakes Natasha brought to school .  Thank you Natasha. Mathematics The children continued their work on measurement, using their own handspans to measure things in their classroom. UOI The Year 1 students continued to work on their dioramas for their summative assessment.  L...

Mathematics The Year 1 students continued with their investigation into measurement this week, using non-standard units.  We discussed why we need different units to measure different objects, for example unifix cubes would not be appropriate to measure the classroom as we would need too many, however we could use cut outs of our actual bodies to measure it.  The students were delighted to imagine themselves as measuring tools. Petch uses unifix cubes to measure different classroom objects. Moses measure the glue stick using cubes. Natasha work together discussing which objects are shorter and taller. Spy measures the scissors with cubes. The children watch a video about using non-standard units to measure things. Trevi and Akin are very proud of his measuring work. Literacy This week as a class we read 'Fancy Nancy and the boy from Paris'.  The children learned some 'fancy' new words such as 'terrified', 'perple...
