Literacy
"Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Stephen King
It would seem that the children of Year 1 wholeheartedly agree with Mr. King.

Maths
Measurement was the mathematical focus for the week. We focused on what measurement actually was, the type of things we measure and why measurement is important. We then went on to explore the use of informal units to measure, for example paperclips or unifix cubes. Finally we measured our handspans and used these to measure things in the classroom.

UOI
What a wonderful term to work on the UOI unit, Celebrations. We have enjoyed so many celebrations this term including Chinese New Year, children's birthdays and of course this week Valentine's Day. The children enjoyed hearing the story behind the Valentine Celebration and particularly enjoyed making hearts and Valentine cards.
