All in a Week's Work

Phonics

The sound of the week this week was 'q'.  Here Hugo colours a picture of a queen.

To reinforce the sound 'q' the children circled the sound in a rhyme and used paper to weave a quilt for a queen.  Below Chris is busy making his 'quilt'.

Nobu shows off the finished product!

Now the children are learning their sounds they are motivated to write words.  In class we have also been studying the senses.  This week it was the sense of sight.  Amelia demonstrates that she can write the word 'eye'.
Well done Amelia!
Tanat  making words with magnetic letters.
To demonstrate just how important our sense of sight is, the children played a game of 'Pin The Tail On The Donkey'.
What an enjoyable game.

As a class we also went for a walk to see how many things we could see, using our eyes.
Maths

To teach the children to count forwards and backwards, Miss May works with small groups to play 'Snakes and Ladders'.
As well as the order of the words the children practice the formation of the numbers.
