We Didn't Realise We Were Learning, We Just Knew We Were Having Fun!

What fun we've had in Year 1, exploring the sense of touch.

UOI

We filled our 'feely box' with all sorts of different things and the children had to describe what they felt and guess what the object was.  In class we also discussed how our sense of touch can bring us pleasure as well as protect us from danger.

Our Ugly Duckling has turned into a beautiful swan.

Phonics

In Phonics this week we have been looking at the sound 'd'.  We have drawn dinousaurs, read the story the 'Wonkey Donkey' and the story of The Ugly Duckling'.
Amelia had fun creating her beautiful pictures.  Not only did she have fun doing it but she was also developing her fine motor skills at the same time.

In Maths we have been working on ordering numbers 1 to 20.  In this activity the children had to fill in the missing numbers by cutting and gluing in the correct number.  To reinforce this we have also been singing songs daily such as, '10 Little Indians', '10 Green Bottles' and '1, 2, 3, 4, 5 once I caught a fish alive'.
