Let's Celebrate!

Let's Celebrate!

UOI

What an exciting week we've had preparing for Chinese New Year.
The children have been practising extremely hard for their Chinese Dance for the Assembly. I have to say they put on a fantastic performance on the day.

Not only have we been finding out about Chinese Celebrations but we were lucky enough to have Nobu Kun's Mum to come and talk to us about Japanese Celebrations. The children found this most interesting and particularly enjoyed making Samurai Helmets.

Literacy

In Literacy we continue to focus on initial sounds, this week we looked at the sound 'b'.  The children drew a 'b' picture full of things beginning with 'b'.  They also did blot painting to produce beautiful butterflies.

Apart from focusing on sounds we have also been writing short sentences, concentrating on beginning with a capital letter and ending with a full stop.

Maths

This week once again we have been focusing on sets and basic multiplication. The children have been counting the number of objects within a set to find the total.  They have also been making their own sets from objects within the classroom and drawing these.

A set of electronic things.

Hugo made a set of things we use in school.
