Play, Play And More Play.

Global Play Day

Play is the highest form of research.

Albert Einstein.

Research shows that children learn through play, as well as having fun.  It was with great enthusiasm therefore, that UDIS took part in the Global Play Day on Wednesday. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Literacy

The sound for this week has been 'k'.  To reinforce this sound the children engaged in a variety of activities such as, using clay to make things beginning with 'k', making 'kings' crowns' and making kites.

Linux proudly shows off his 'King's crown'.

As we are studying Celebrations for our UOI we have linked that to our literacy and have written about our favourite celebration.

UOI

This week we learned about the Japanese festival Setsubun which occurs on February 3rd and all about 'Oni', the evil spirit.
The children had great fun making their own Oni masks.

Maths

In maths we have been looking at measurement.  As a class we investigated what measurement is and why we need to measure things.  After brainstorming the children drew pictures of things we measure.

Some of the things Khung drew were; wood for building, Mummy's tummy when she is having a baby and beef, as he said the butcher has to weigh it.  Well done Khung.

Celebrations

And the celebrations continued as we celebrated Tanat's birthday. Hope you have a lovely birthday tomorrow Tanat. Happy Birthday.
