More Celebrations!
Maths
In maths this week the children were introduced to Place Value. As it is quite a difficult concept to understand we use games to introduce it. The children rolled dice and put out the appropriate numbers of cubes on the left hand side of the paper marked 'Ones'. Once they got ten cubes they made a tower of 'Ten' and put it on the left hand side of the paper marked 'Tens'. The goal of this game is to enable the children to understand that 21, for example is made up of 2 'Tens' and 1 'One'.
Literacy
The children are becoming more confident writing words and short sentences. Activities this week included finishing a sentence and putting words in the correct order to make short sentences.
We also played phonic games and read our reading books.
UOI
This week we continued to look at life cycles. The children continued working on their Google slides about an animal of their choice as well as carrying out an experiment to find out why penguins keep dry in icy cold waters.
