From Peru to London!

First Week Back!

Hard to believe that the first week of Term 3 is over but over it is! It's been a great start to the last term with the children embracing their new Unit of Inquiry with enthusiasm.

UOI

In our current Unit of Inquiry, 'How we organise ourselves', the Year 1 students are focusing on transport.  We launched the Unit by introducing Paddington, a bear who came all the way from Peru to England.  The children have been set the challenge of designing transport for Paddington to first of all get him out of the rainforest and then all the way to London.

Korwan and Amelia worked together to design their cable car.

 Maths

In maths the children continue to reinforce their counting skills, counting in 2's, 5's and 10's.
This week also saw them revising their 3D shapes, as well as reading and writing number words.

Literacy

The children were asked to demonstrate their knowledge of words in a medium of their choice.   Some chose to paint a word wall, others to make words using clay and some decided to make their own books.
