Birthday Celebrations
Birthday Celebrations
We had reason to celebrate this week as it was Thames's birthday. What a 'magnificent' and delectable birthday cake (as Fancy Nancy would say), we got to share. Happy Birthday Thames.
Literacy
In Literacy we continued with our Fancy Nancy stories and at the same time expanding our vocabulary. In the first two pictures below the boys are writing down the 'fancy' words and the corresponding 'plain' words. The children were also involved in activities of matching phrases with words, plus cutting out words to make sentences.

UOI
This week the children looked at life cycles, in particular the life cycle of a butterfly. They then. demonstrated their understanding of this concept beautifully through craft work.
Next Week
UOI
For the UOI the children will be investigating the life cycle of a jellyfish and the common house fly.
Literacy
The children will be looking at non-fiction books on different life cycles. The emphasis will be on locating parts of the text that give particular information, e.g. titles, contents page and labelled diagram.
Mathematics
In mathematics we will continue to read and write numbers from 1 to 20 in numerals and words. We will also keep working on addition and subtraction word problems, as this not only develops mathematical skills but literacy skills as well.
