Learning Virtual Style!

I think we would all agree that ‘face to face’ learning is our preferred style of learning.  However, learning online has demonstrated that our children possess many admirable qualities that may have gone unnoticed in the classroom situation.  Some of these qualities include; perseverance, resourcefulness, creativity and self discipline. I am amazed at the time the Year 1 students are spending on their work at home and indeed the final product.  Well done Year 1!

Maths

This week the Year 1 students have been working on basic multiplication. We have been exploring the concept that multiplication is simply repeated addition. To reinforce their understanding of this concept the children have been drawing sets of different objects. Tone, Moses and Junior did some really impressive work as the pictures below show. Well done Tone! Great work Junior! Super job Moses.

Moses busy working on his multiplication.

Apart from learning new concepts it is important that we practise those we already know.  In the pictures above Euro is practising his addition using his bug collection to help him.

Torch proudly shows off his multiplication work.  Great job Torch!

The children also worked on the topic of statistics this week.  In this topic they learned about tally marks and bar graphs.

Super work Natasha!  Well done!

So impressed by all of the hard work you are doing Tone!  I am very proud of you!

English

This week the children revised onomatopoeia words.  After reading a story with lots of these words, the children found their own words.  Luffy did an exceptional job as did Torch.   Great work boys!

The children read a book this week called Library Lion.  Apart from being a most enjoyable story it also introduced the children to Alliteration.  They were then asked to write a sentence to show their understanding of alliteration.  Just love Luffy's sentences and drawing.

Such concentration Junior!

What a superb finished product!

To celebrate the end of a hard working week, let's take a leaf out of Luffy's book and join him in a dance!
