Shadows and Light
Shadows and Light
UOI
This week our UOI investigation has led us to explore light and shadows. Torch was able to explain that light travels in wave.
Luffy made an excellent video on shadow puppets. Great job Luffy. I so enjoyed watching this.
He also gave excellent examples of the many different light sources we have.
Maths
In maths this week we continued with place value and multiplication. For place value, the children were required to fill in missing numbers and in multiplication they continued to explore arrays of numbers. The children also counted in 10's forwards and backwards, noting the patterns.
Torch doing a great job of counting in 10's. Well done Torch!

Tone works hard on his multiplication. Super work Tone.
Junior working hard on his maths. It obviously pays off as the results above show.
Luffy's work on multiplication and measurement. Excellent Luffy!
English
In English during an online sessions we read the book, 'Roger is Reading a Book'. The character Roger, was trying to read his book but the little girl next door kept making lots of noise, thereby disturbing Roger. Roger decided to solve the problem by buying a gift for Emily, the little girl. We stopped reading the book at this point and the children had to draw and write about what they thought was in the box. Here are some of the things they came up with.

Torch thought a rocket was in the box.
Junior wrote that he thought there was a video game in the box. Having said that he did guess correctly during the online session. The actual contents of the box was a book.

Moses produced some impressive writing about vehicles.
As always Luffy's diary entries make for interesting reading.
